One thing is that you might want to try using some software that is capable of layers and transparency/ overlays, and then overlay the lineart over the color. This will eliminate the sort've pixelated effect thats on all of the black edges. This will also act as shading for the parts that are shades of grey and retain some of the detail in the lineart that would be otherwise lost^^
I do admit this was probably not a 'correct' scan to choose, seeing as it was a .jpg that I simply grabbed from my account on here. Most of the other scans I work with are scanned at around 300+ DPI whereas Khagee was already a compressed little .jpg when I blew her up and put her on threshhold.
Maybe I'll try your layering manuever though, if it'll help with the pixelation around the edges. Thanks.
Also, a couple other things in photoshop that I've found really helpfull are the brush transparencies, the smudge tool and curves menu (affects saturation and such). In general though, layers are one of the most usefull parts of the program, especially since you can simply set a seperate layer for the lineart and never have to worry about messing it up while adding colour underneath. I would advise against overusing the dodge and burn tools (they get abused quite alot).
Other than that, just try experimenting with the various tools and settings and you should be able to find something that works well for you.
well, hope thats helpfull ^^
And I like his teef.
